 One of the restaurants in Belgrade that offers best value for money – a well-known Belgrade restaurant Iguana (especially favored by expatriate community in Belgrade), has recently moved to this address and it continues to provide a really great experience. The name itself means
"On the corner" and the spot is very good and near to all major points in town. The restaurant is spacious and comfy, decorative but not overdone, and probably has the best staff in town: starting from the owner, they are friendly and knowledgeable and yet unpretentious and unobtrusive – a real rarity in Belgrade. The menu is short but absolutely delicious, and you won’t go wrong with any of their fish (we especially recommend sole), steak, or salads (our favorites are Thai salad and shrimp salad). The selection of wines is solid, and there are several Australian sorts that are very good and surprisingly inexpensive. To top it all, the restaurant is most famous for it desserts – their sticky date pudding, lemon and fig cheese cake, or chocolate cake will all haunt you for days after you’ve tasted them.
Recommended for: anybody who wants delicious food and outstanding service.

 The number one Serbian national restaurant for Belgrade visitors – absolutely unmissable even if you are not a fan of the local cuisine. The authentic styling depicts various aspects of Serbian folklore and village lifestyle. It has a beautiful garden and a spacious interior, while the menu has all the musts of Serbian cooking. Start with a local appetizer and ask for a shot of rakija – you’ll be offered a wide selection, but we recommend you try quince, pear, plum (slivovitz), or honey (especially popular with the ladies). After that, definitely go for starters – the best way to go is to ask for their assorted starter for the given number of persons, and you will be served a variety of salads, spreads, dips, pies, and all sorts of Serbian delicacies – certainly including the renowned kajmak and ajvar. For the main course, we suggest you ask your waiter for tips – the choice is plentiful and selection can be difficult if you’re not familiar with the cuisine. Traditional desserts are served so don’t miss them – our favorites include šnenokle, orasnice, or any type of pie. Dačo serves a reasonable selection of local and international wine, and their house wine is also worth a try. The service is pleasant and professional, but make sure to book a table as it can be quite crowded.

 Madera is one of the oldest restaurants in Belgrade and it underwent a complete transformation after being privatized several years ago. A classy and spacious interior is more than complemented by the most beautiful restaurant garden in Belgrade – over 370 comfortable seats in the middle of Tašmajdan Park, including even outdoor air-conditioning in the scorching summer days. Both the service and the menu meet the highest standards and expectations, and you simply cannot go wrong here. Meals include traditional Serbian cooking and international cuisine, as well as many of their own delicious specialties. The size of the place provides enough privacy for business meetings, but Madera is also perfect for weekend family get-togethers or dinners with friends. Although there is almost always enough room, it’s a good idea to call in advance and make sure, especially on weekends.

 Opera is located just off Republic Square – the official heart of the city – and right next to the Majestic
hotel. It has a beautiful summer garden in the pedestrian zone, and the interior is intimate and classy. The service is outstanding, while the international cuisine served often comes with an original twist and makes for a memorable experience. Vegetarians will also have a wide choice here, and we particularly recommend the salads, pastas and risottos. The wine selection is good, and the desserts are delicious and typically Italian. The place can be crowded at lunchtime or in the after-work hours, but it is worth giving it a try without reservations – it is one of the best places in the heart of the downtown area.

 If one uses price/quality as a benchmark for comparison this is
definitely one of the best restaurant in Belgrade. It is a part of
famous British restaurant chain and provides unique meals coupled with
really efficient services. Some of the most popular meals are fillet
of sole and salmon but if you are really into fish – taste profiterole
with seafood as you will smile after this tasty yet very cheap meal.
If you like heavier food – the restaurant offers variety of
extraordinary and unique tastes ranging from chicken liver and celery
purée all the way to beef carpaccio and of course the specialty - lamb with
eggplants and grilled vegetables. For desert there are many
different options but we suggest you try white chocolate mousse with
strawberry syrup – the best one I tried in Belgrade. The prices
range from 3-6 euro per meal – which makes it the cheapest
restaurant in the city of Belgrade. The location is great (just next
to the Republic Square) and probably the only problem is if you are coming by car –
since it is hard to find the parking space as this is also the busiest
part of Belgrade.

 Zaplet opened only a few years ago, and it has become instantly popular with locals and foreigners alike. It stands out with an excellent service and a distinctly urban and friendly atmosphere. The menu is small but delightful, and meals are typically lighter than the Serbian tradition. We warmly recommend all of their fish and seafood dishes, as well as memorable desserts. The wine selection is considerably better than average in Belgrade, and the summer garden is beautiful albeit small. Definitely make sure to book a table beforehand, sometimes several days in advance.
